Leading The Way will host AWAKE Houston — the third official city-wide rally in its AWAKE America series — gathering thousands of Christians for a dedicated evening of worship, prayer and preaching.
What AWAKE America Is
The premise of the series is deliberately simple. Take an entire city's believers — across denominations, congregations, ethnic lines and traditions — put them in one room, and do three things: worship, pray, and preach the Word.
No conference track. No exhibition hall. No breakout sessions competing for attention.
Why Houston
Houston is one of the most ethnically diverse major cities in the United States, and its church reflects that: Nigerian congregations, Vietnamese congregations, Spanish-speaking congregations, historic Black churches, suburban megachurches, and small storefront fellowships that have been quietly praying for their neighbourhoods for decades.
A city-wide gathering in Houston is not one church scaled up. It is dozens of very different rooms deciding to be one room for a night.
What City-Wide Gatherings Actually Do
The measurable outcomes of a rally are always hard to pin down, and honest people should say so. Nobody can chart what happened in a stadium.
But something does happen when believers who have only ever worshipped in their own building discover how many others there are. Isolation is one of the most effective weapons against a local church, and a full arena is a straightforward answer to it.
Every regional awakening in church history has a moment like this in its early chapters — believers from separate streams standing in one place and realising they were never as few as they thought.
If You Are Anywhere Near Houston
Bring your church. Bring the person who has stopped going. Bring the teenager who thinks faith is something their grandmother does.
And if you are nowhere near Texas: pray for it on the 19th, and ask God whether your own city needs a night like this.
City-wide gatherings do one thing no individual congregation can do alone: they show believers how many of them there actually are.

Pentecost was a city-wide gathering. So was Nehemiah's assembly at the Water Gate, where all the people came together as one and stood while the Word was read aloud. Scripture repeatedly shows God moving when a city's people gather in one place with one purpose — and Jesus prayed specifically that His followers would be one, so that the world would believe.
