We do not treat these accounts as doctrine. Scripture is the authority on what happens after death; a testimony is a person's account of their own experience, and it carries the weight of a witness, not a text. We report what the person says, and we attribute it to them.

We also do not dismiss them. The reflex to treat every such account as a trick of oxygen-starved neurons is not a neutral scientific position — it is a prior commitment dressed as one. Scripture contains its own accounts of people caught up and shown things, and Paul's own report in 2 Corinthians 12 is notably hesitant about the mechanics: *whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.*

That is a good posture. Report it, attribute it, do not build a system on it.

What Is Verifiable

The parts of this story that do not depend on interpretation are substantial on their own.

A young man sustained a brain injury that should have ended or permanently altered his life. He survived. He recovered enough to speak, to travel, and to tell the story in public. Medical professionals around the case have used the language of miracle.

Those facts are not diminished if you set the heavenly encounter to one side. A body that was not supposed to work again works.

Why These Stories Land

Testimonies like Gabe's spread because they answer a question that nobody asks out loud but almost everybody carries: *is there anything on the other side of this, and is it good?*

Most people file that question away and get on with their week. Then somebody who has been to the edge comes back and says something — and the question surfaces again, in people who would never have attended a service to ask it.

That is the evangelistic power of a testimony. It does not argue. It reports.

The Response That Fits

For a believer, the right response to a story like this is not primarily fascination. It is sobriety and gratitude — and a renewed willingness to say something to the people around us while everyone involved is still well.
