No single baptism figure for the night has been published, so we aren't giving one.
Who Is Behind It
Movement San Diego was founded by Mike Doyle, pastor of the New York City-based Movement Church. "The whole heart for the event is we want to see revival in California," he said.
Baptize The World grew out of a single beach. Mark Francey, pastor of Oceans Church in Irvine, launched Baptize SoCal at Pirate's Cove; it became Baptize California, then Baptize America, and now Baptize The World. "We believe it was an idea God gave us," he told The Christian Post.
Three Years, One Beach to 49 Nations
According to figures reported by Crosswalk:
- 2023: more than 4,000 baptised at Pirate's Cove.
- 2024: more than 12,000 across California on Pentecost Sunday.
- 2025: more than 28,000, with over 600 U.S. churches holding 1,000 events.
- 2026: 19,010 across 49 nations on Pentecost, Baptize The World's first global day.
In all, the movement reports 71,002 baptisms through more than 1,600 churches in 49 nations over 36 months. The next global day is set for Sunday 16 May 2027.
Why It Matters
The pattern matters as much as the numbers. Baptize The World works through local churches, so people who go into the water have a congregation waiting for them when they come out. That's the thread running through the 2026 baptism wave — from Biltmore Church's record 458 to 59 in a Mississippi parking lot.

Biblical Perspective
Jesus sent His followers to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). On the day of Pentecost, "those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day" (Acts 2:41).

Pray With Us
Lord Jesus, thank You for every person who came up out of the water at Oceanside. Root them in local churches, give them friends who will walk with them, and let what began on a beach become a lifetime of following You. Pour out revival on California. In Your name, amen.
